TPS25942/about internal FET Pd

Hi,

Could you tell me about TPS25942 internal FET Pd data.
Now our customer is evaluating TPS25942 and I get two questions from a customer.

1.Customer requesting us to provide min/max spec of FET Pd (10W) to calculate worst case.
2.Is there the problem even if customer use it under conditions of Vin=17V,Iout=3A,(17V×3A×0.2sec)?



I list below the specifications of the customer.
・Vin=17V
・Iout=3A
(17V×3A×0.2sec)
・Cout=47uF+0.1uF
・dv/dt cap=0.1uF

    Yes, This device will work for the 17V, 3A load current. (3A is the current limit)

     In  this case the if there is short circuit at the output the power dissipation will be 17V x 3A =51W,

    the shutdown time can be estimated according to the graph (Figure 57. Thermal Shutdown Limit Plot in the data sheet)  below--

    That comes out to be 0.5ms at 85degC ambient. Look like that meets your requirements.
