Questions related to TPS65721

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65721

Hello

I had some basic question related to TPS65721 and I hope you could answer them. Please ignore if few question have been already answered in previous threads.

1. Can the MODE pin be left floating and the PWM or PFM mode be forced from I2C? Also Can the I2C write to MODE override if the MODE pin is connected to ground?

2. Is it alright to leave PB_IN_N pin pulled high. So that the device is shipped in powerdown mode and can be started once the charger is plugged in?

3. Is it beneficial to use a voltage divider from SYS to  THRESHOLD pin to reset  the device or can there be any problem if I grounded the threshold Pin?

Thanks

  • HI,

    1. You can connect the MODE pin to GND and then control force PWM via I2C bit F_PWM in register CONTROL0, x09.
    2. You can leave it HIGH but, then the only way to turn on the device would be AC assertion. If the battery is removed and then inserted the device will not power up until the user plugs in the AC.
    3. I suppose that would depend on your product's application. Do you want to generate a RESET signal based on the VSYS...?
