Windows 8 driver for BQ27532EVM.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24250, EV2400, BQSTUDIO

I'm going to explore TI's BQ27532EVN and cannot find proper driver version.

The last version on the site is USB Drivers for Windows XP and Windows 7 (32-bit OS only) (Rev. A) from 28 Apr 2011.

And I work under Windows 8.

Is there proper driver version?

Is there any workaround (excluding work under Windows 7 or XP)?

  • Hi Alex,

The bq27532EVM itself has no native USB interface. Although the EVM has a micro-USB port and the D+/D- pins broken out to a header, it is only for powering the bq24250 charger IC. The bq27532EVM (along with TI's other gauges and their corresponding EVMs) require a separate EV2300 or EV2400 USB-to-I2C/SMBus/HDQ adapter. The main page for the EVM definitely doesn't make it clear that an external USB adapter is needed - sorry if it caused any confusion for you!

The EV2400 does not require any special drivers as it identifies to the system as a Human Interface device (HID), but the older EV2300 does require drivers (Windows x64 driver support is unofficially available for it). I've personally used the EV2400 and bqSTUDIO on Windows 8 on my Microsoft Surface Pro without any problems.
