TPS22969 support bi-direction?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22969, TPS22966, TPS22968

Hi,

As title, could compare with MAX14680? Thanks!

  • Hi Jerry,

The TPS22969 supports current in either direction when the part is turned on.  When the device is turned off, the device will block current from VIN to VOUT, but not from VOUT to VIN.  The device also features an output discharge which pulls the output to 0V through an internal path to ground.

In comparison, the MAX14680 provides this reverse current protection when the device is off from VIN to VOUT and from VOUT to VIN.

To get that same functionality with the TPS22969, two TPS22969 devices would have to be used in a back-to-back configuration (similar to the diagram below):

For more information on this configuration, please see the TI Design Load Switches for Power MUXing & Reverse Current Blocking

Another way to implement this functionailty is by using a two channel device (TPS22966 or TPS22968) in the following configuration:

Please see the TPS22968 datasheet (section 10.1.4) for more information.
