Difference between UCD9224E and UCD9224

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD9224E, UCD9224

Hello,

I'm curious about difference between UCD9224E and UCD9224 devices. We know and support (programming of internal memory) UCD9224 on our device programmer. Now customer asks for UCD9224E programming support. Nowhere on TI WEB is mention about UCD9224E. We know that this chip really exists. Can someone explain the difference?

Regards,

Frantisek

  • Hi Frantisk, did you get an answer on this? I have asked this same question of TI. One difference in the register sets is PMBUS support (1.2 vs 1.1)

    PMBUS_REVISION address: 0x98

    UCD9224E: 1.2,1.2 - Part I: 1.2, Part II: 1.2

    UCD9224: 1.1,1.1 - Part I: 1.1, Part II: 1.1
  • Hi Thomas,

    No I didn't receive answer for the question above till now
  • Hi Frantisek,

    From what I understand the difference is FW only.

    TI FAE says:

    Other differences of  UCD9224E includes following changes;

    1: more PMbus commands are supported, for example, page_plus_read, page_plus_write, smbalert_mask, write to status_registers.

    2: improved regulation by eliminates periodic spikes , Improved voltage reference accuracy below room temperature.

    3: Improved Reliability, Supports MAX_DUTY command. Default reduced to 95% to protect some drivers. DRIVER_CONFIG now correctly supports drivers with tri-state DPWM shutdown or inverted FLT polarity.
