How to connect bq51050b to Battery in operation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS783, BQ51050B

Hello,

Context:

Please find attached my schematic of my power management board.

On my board through pads, I connect a receiver Coil (COIL_PAD1 & COIL_PAD2), my battery (BAT+_PAD & BAT-_PAD), my "MCU board" (not display here)(GND_B_PAD & VOUT_B_PAD) and take a measure point MEASURE_ADC_PAD.

I use a LDO (TPS783 3v) for power regulation to my "MCU board", a bq51050b and a LiPo battery of 250 mAh with no distinct wire for charge and supply.

Question:

On one hand you say that bq51050 is able to manage battery on its own. On the other hand, I have been told that I must disconnect the end charge, or add a switching component, during loading phase. I am ok to disconnect the MCU board during battery rechargement. How can I connect the bq51050b? Do I need to add an extra component? Which one?

Thanks in advance for you help,

Best,

  • BAT pin of bq51050 can be connected directly to both your battery and LDO. So you can just connect your BAT+_PAD and the EN pin of LDO together to BAT pin of bq51050. The IC has a linear charger integrated and the BAT pin can deliver current to battery and system output directly.

    Thanks,
