bq40z60 - What is the proper way to terminate discharge.

I would like to terminate discharge at a cell voltage of 3000mV or pack voltage of 6000mV. FD and TD Flags get set at the correct levels but continues to discharge until I get safety status CUV of 2500mV. Is this a normal way to terminate the discharge?

The gauge does not actively disable the DSG FET, except for a protection fault. S, the CUV would be the event that opens the FET. The gauge does force SOC to 0% at the Termination Voltage threshold.

So your this means the gas gauge should allow draining of the battery below it's recommended cutoff voltage for the sake of gas gauge learning? or should the CUV threshold be set to 3000mV. What am I missing?

The gauge just notifies the user as to how much capacity is available until the voltage reaches the Termination Voltage. The user can continue to use the cells below that point and he just runs the risk of getting shut-off immediately. You should set the CUV threshold at or above the voltage threshold where you do not want to allow the cells to be over discharged. The gauge will then open the DSG FET to protect the cells.

Dear Thomas,
In continuation with the above discussion, Is there a provision that the battery will stop discharging as soon as a particular RSOC is reached. Say I would like to cut off the discharging when the battery reaches 20% RSOC. Is this possible with bq40z60 ?
