Hello All,

Kindly help to suggest suitable LDO for below specifications:

I/p Voltage : 5V

O/p Voltage : 3.3V (Fixed)

Output Current : 2A/2.5A

Package : any

Price : < 1 USD$

I have shortlisted LM1085 kindly advise if is suitable.

    Given your specifications, LM1085 would be a good fit. LMS1587 also fits those parameters and has improved line and load regulation performance if that is something you are looking for.

    The LDO suggestions from Rachel are good. The 'WEBENCH Designer' power tool at TI.com may have additional suggestions, and the Parametric Selection tool may bring up some other devices as well.
    Just keep in mind that, as described, efficiency will be low and the power dissipation in the package will be on the high side at 3.4W to 4.25W. Hitting thermal shutdown is a real possibility.
