Update to BQ40z50-R1

I notice there is a firmware update for the BQ40z50 device. The change list says that old devices can be upgraded.

With the new BQStudio I have a BQ40z50-R1.bqz file but there is no option to program a *.bqz file. Is there a *.senc file or some other way I can use the *.bqz file as I have about 20 prototype boards I'd like to upgrade.

Hi David,

Once you install the new package for the bq40Z50-R1 (Located at:http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sluc585 ), there should be a .srec file. You can program the .srec using bqStudio.

Please let me know if you still have problems updating.

I just updated the firmware a few days ago: If you want to save your settings here is the right wayto do so!

Export gg.csv file from your pack.
Program the bq40z50-R1 srec file.
Program the ChemID.
Update the data flash parameters by hand using the data in the gg.csv file.

You have to be careful while doing it, because several new settings have been added and placement has changed in the data memory.

Thanks. It hadn't occurred to me that this might be a separate part number.
