TPS61029: internal variation to judge to start switching

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61070, TPS61029

Dear all,

I read following text.

www.tij.co.jp/.../slva307a.pdf

At first content in this text, you mention

'It exits cycle 1 after charging the output voltage up to a value
that is almost equal to the input voltage.'

I would like to know more detail of this condition.

I would like to know detail things to make variation of VOUT condition.

I imagine that this device judge whether starting switching by internal comparator.

So I guess that internal comparator or internal resistor make variation of judgment to switching.

In conclusion, at VIN = 4 [V], how the worst VOUT voltage does this device start switching under these variation?

Best regards,

  • the application note you refered is TPS61070. for this device, it will start switching when the difference of VOUT and VIN is not higher than 100mV during startup. the 100mV is the designed value, but we don't have the variation of this value at the worst condition.
  • Dear Jasper Li,

    Thank you for your reply.

I have understood this application note is TPS6107x series, but I see this note in Technical documents of TPS61029.

So, I thought that this note said about TPS61029 too.(Of course, I also thought that something was different from TPS6107x.)

    Was my idea wrong?

I have been able to understood 100mV is threshold. Thank you.

However could I know the variation of this value completely?

Could you teach me how to think the variation?

    Best regards,

  • I'll check with the designer about the threshold for TPS61029, and the variation of this voltage from the IC process.
