BQ27742 - Modify Default I2C Address

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27742-G1

BqChamps,

I'd like to modify the default I2C address from it's default which is 0xAA or 0xAB for write or read according to section 3.4 I2C Interface in the TRM.  I wasn't able to find instructions or a register setting in the DS/TRM.  How can this value be changed?

Technical Reference Manual: www.ti.com/.../sluuax0c.pdf

Thanks,

  • Hi Mike,

Unfortunately, the I2C address for the bq27742-G1 (as well as TI's other gauges) is hardcoded to 0xAA, and it cannot be modified.

If your application has another device that occupies the same address, an I2C switch/multiplexer (for example, the PCA9546A) can be used to switch between devices.

    Regards,

    Jason
