CAN I USE UCC 28910 FOR 460V(DC) INPUT AND 5V OUPUT???

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28910

SINCE MOSFET IS RATED FOR 700V ONLY.

  • Yes it is possible to use the UCC28910 in this application. The voltage on the drain of the MOSFET is equal to:

    1. 460V plus
    2. the reflected output voltage (5 times the turns ratio) plus
    3. any switching spike due to transformer leakage inductance.

The sum total of this voltage should be less than 600V.

  • Hello Anchal,

Adding to John's answer, assuming Vsnubber= nVo, you have a nVo target of (600-460)/2 = 70V. While designing transformer, please take care of this consideration. If you intend to operate it at higher temperature, it is also recommended to use a voltage derating factor of 0.8.
