bq29700: Best way to disable DOUT externally

Hi,

I want to use the bq29700 as a protection IC. However I also want to be able to disable the discharge output (DOUT) from an external input.

I would have prefered an IC with an enable input, however there are only a handful of them an no one is really common.

At the moment I am considering pulling the discharge FET's gate low using a diode and putting a resistor between DOUT and the gate. Is there a better way to achieve external deactivation?
