BQ24190 Thermistor Calculation?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24190

Can I please get some explanation regarding how these equations have been derived?

Thanks,

  • Hi Michael,

The thermistor values may differ depending on the thermistor being used, so the recommended values cannot be used for all applications. In order to obtain the correct values, you must look at the thermistor datasheet and look for the resistance values on 0C (RTHcold) and 45C (RTHhot), or any other temperature range that you need. The beta value helps in determining these values if there is no populated table.

As for the voltages (VLTF, VHTF, VTCO), VREF is equal to VREGN. An overview of the voltage levels can be seen on page 20 of the bq24190 datasheet, and the specifics on the voltage levels can be seen in the table on page 8 under “Cold/Hot Thermistor Comparator”.

    Thanks,
    StevenB
