bq27530 learning cycle qen always set to 1

The QEN indicates whether the Impedance Track algorithm is enabled, and that bit is tied to the IT Enable parameter in the Data Flash memory.

To disable Impedance Track from bqEVSW, go to Data Flash -> Gas Gauging -> State -> IT Enable, and set that to 0. After resetting the gauge, the QEN bit should now be cleared.

Doesnt the qen and it_enable set to 0 automatically after good learning cycle? do I need to set them to 0 after seeing 2 at the update status?

The QEN bit and IT Enable will remain set unless it is manually cleared, as Impedance Track will pretty much never need to be disabled during normal operation.

I have tried it but it didnt work.
I manually set update status to 0 and reset but the IT_en still sets on and qen was still 1.
only after I also manually set it_en to 0 and reset qen was set to 0.
you said I should only do it to the update status.
do you think something was wrong in the learning cycle? or this is how it should be?

Sorry for the confusion - only IT Enable needs to be set to 0 (Update Status should stay at 2 to indicate that Qmax and Ra are learned).

Document SLUA544 has more detailed information on creating a golden image after learning, and the last part mentions clearing Update Status and updating of other Ra tables if needed.

I know this file but all of it is dealing with "bqeasy" and as I mentioned in the first post "bqeasy" is not part of the "bq evaluation sw" for the bq27530 so I dont have any accessibility to it.

is there a way to fix it? 

one more thing, even in that document I dont see the steps how to generate gloden file using it_enable command and disabling it manually.

is there a document that isnt aim to bqeasy users because this sw is not part of your support to bq27530 or alternatively can you fix bqeasy to support bq27530?

After doing what you wrote (set update status to 0 and then set it_enable to 0), I have tried to do one more cycle to see that everything goes ok but found out that after the first charge the "update status" jumped directly to 2 and not to 1.

according to datasheet it should jump to 1 and after discharge it should jump to 2.

I think that this happens because it remembers thing from another learning cycle or something like that or because I manually set the update status to 0 after the first learning cycle.

can you tell me why does it happens? I dont want to return all the definitions to default and do all the configurations again... so how can it be fixed in the most elegant way?

The bqEVSW for the bq27530 does not have a bqEASY plugin, unfortunately. The steps to make a golden image (setting IT Enable to 0, and copying Ra table values) can be done manually by creating a .gg file and editing it with a text editor. There shouldn't be too much of an issue if Update Status jumps immediately to 2, but I think a couple more relax-discharge-relax learn cycles can help improve the gauge's Data Flash values if you think they are not accurate enough for a golden image.

There might be some Data Flash setting that allows the Ra tables to update even if Qmax has not, but I don't have a bq27530 on hand to verify this.
