TPS650832 LDO3 OCP

Hi,

Do we have OCP feature for LDO3 in TPS65083x?  What is the criteria to trigger it?  What will happen if this OCP is triggered?

Thanks!

Antony

  • Additionally, what will happen when if a 3.3V is fed into LDO3V output when there's no Vin supplying PMIC yet (LDO3V is not turned on)?

    Thanks!

  • The LDO3V OCP limit is reached the output current will scaled back to the maximum range. This will result in a Vout droop. There is a power good comparison on the LDO voltage to detect when it reaches 3.3V but, if it does not reach 3.3V and the internal PG is low for LDO3V then the device will continue outputting maximum current and not transition to the READY state.

It is not recommended to bias the output of the LDO before VIN is applied. I cannot say what will happen but, this is not a design for case so, problems could arise. The only input to be validated ok to supply before VIN is VINPP. We have tested supplying the output of LDO3V with the 3.3V buck supply and that is validated and good for use. But, this assumes that the LDO3V LDO is on before the 3.3V buck.
