LM 317

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM317, LM317-N
Hi

I'm working with a linear regulated lm317 to turn a few lines of LEDs . The circuit is dimensioned for 12V but when working with 24V power dissipated in the regulator gets too high

Which regulator indicate to me with u less heat ?

example
4 red LEDs with 50mA each and 2.5V

10V have the most LEDs 1,25V the LM317 0.7V and the protection diode

12V turn on when the voltage on LM is minimal, while in turn the voltage at the LM 28 is approximately 16V which generates a very high power and consequently heating of my circuit

*****disregard regulators in parallel and LED driver

Any tips?
