TPS25910/ about ustomer use condition

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25910

Hi,

Could you tell me about TPS25910.
Customer is going to use the TPS25910 under the following conditions.

・Input Voltage : 17V
・Cext : 0.1nF
・Rlim : 30kΩ (Ilim≒6.5A)
・Cout : 330uF

Can I use an TPS25910 in this condition?
Please tell me if there is a concern.
This device does not correspond to the simulation.
Customer want to know how to design and guidelines of TPS25910.

  • Hello Yusuke-san,
The worst case TJ should not be more than 105C at 6.5A for this device . So, customer will have to pour enough copper to lower thetaJA so that, TJ = TA(max) + thetaJA*(6.5*6.5*Ronmax) <= 105C.
do you want continuously 6.5A current from the device ?
The continuously recommended current is 5A.

  • Hi Dinesh-san,

    Thank you for your support.
Is there the TINATI model of TPS25910?
Or,Is there a method of calculating the order to start up properly?
It does not rise by the conditions of Vin and Iout.
Therefore, customer want to know the examination method of the desk.

It will attach a part of the waveform that I was confirmed.
Could you give me your advice?

  •  HI Yusuke

We have the PSPICE model available for this part at the below link

Please use that for the simulation, TINA model is not available.

I can see the start up problem in fig 2,  when you have 17V input and device is changed from disable to enabled state.

The reason for that is you have high load at the start up.

Please Refer to the "Maximum Load at Startup" section in TPS25910 data sheet  on page 17..

Based on the input you gave,  your minimum load resistance should be higher than Vin^2/12 = 17^2/12 =24ohms.

Please try this and let me know, if that works for you.

     Best Regards

    Dinesh

  • Dinesh-san,

Thank you for your kind support.
However,Values that you taught me is the load conditions fixed.
This value is affected by the slew rate of Vin and Iout.
Customers want to know how to calculate in accordance with the load capacity.
Could you tell me your advice?

    Thanks
    Best regards,
    Yusuke
