TPS65094x SW driver

Customer would like to know better about how Intel compose the PMIC SW driver.  Questions as below.

  • Intel already told customer there’re 3 PMIC vendor for APL..  Customer wants to know if Intel read specific register values from PMIC regarding vendor ID to know which PMIC is used?

  • Customer would like know if Intel allow them to add some I2C R/W in Intel released SW driver such as controlling the 2 unused LDOs and the load switch.

  • Antony,

There is a vendor ID register that can be read by the driver to determine if the PMIC is a TI PMIC. What The driver does after reading this value is a question you should ask of Intel.

As for modifying the driver that is also a question that should be asked of Intel as to whether or not they will provide sources for the driver and support modifications.

  • Hey Antony,

Another quick update. Based on our latest call with Intel, they are considering adding BIOS code to set the default voltages for the extra LDOs in the basic BIOS but haven't committed to it. That said, customers should be getting their BIOS from a 3rd party BIOS vendor who we could work with to develop this functionality.

Intel is not currently planning on releasing a generic I2C R/W driver.

    Thanks,
