UCC3895 GND configuration

HI Team,

I am power FAE supproting customer in Japan. our customer is using UCC3895 (Phase Shift PWM) and wants to clarify GND internal configuration.

According to D/s, there are 2 GNDs in this device, one is for IC GND (5 pin ) and the other is for PGND (16piin).

Are those GNDs internally connected or not?

Hi Yada-san,

The datasheet explains these 2 grounds are not connected within the controller to separate the high current output stage grounds (PGND pin 16) from the rest of the critical analog circuit ground (GND pin 5) however, these two ground connections need to be tied together externally to the controller. Application report SLUA501 recommends layout and grounding requirements for the UCC2895 but it also applies for the UCC3895.
