TPS3808G01 Vsense

We have observe strange behaviors on the TPS3808G01. After the power is apply (+5V on VDD and Vsense on +5V divider 46.4K & 4.42K) the chip is never out of reset (pin RESETs alway stay low).  Just by probing the pn Vsense of the chip, it came out of the reset.  When we install a 1000pF on the Vsense the circuit is working well (the chip is out of the reset after the power is apply).  We test the circuit as low as 100pF on the input and the circuit response well.

Can you provide explanation of this behavior?  Why with tip of multimeter have influence on this input?  Any recommendation for this?

Thanks.

  • Hi Bohn,

The SENSE input can be sensitive to transients and layout parasitics, as a result it is suggested that a small bypass capacsitor be connected to the SENSE input. On page 8, it is mentioned that it is good anaglog design practice to put a 1nF to 10nF bypass capacitor on SENSE to reduce this sensitivity.

    Very Respectfully,
