TLC5944 / about terminal processing in DC mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC5944, TLC5923

Hi,

Could you tell me about TLC5944 terminal processing?
Customer uses only DCSEL pin control.
In this case,How should the terminal of   GSCLK(25pin) and  BLANK(2pin) process it?

When customer use only DC pin, I think does not have to use BLANK and GSCLK.
Is my understanding of this correct?

  • Hi,

Can I get the information ?
If you need more information or if  I should  clarify my comment ,

  • Hi Yusuke,

What do you mean by only use DCSEL?

Are you refer to only use DC control for current adjust, pls clarify.

  • Feifei-san,

    Thank you for your support.
I listed it in a meaning called "customer uses only DC mode.
When customer use it with TLC5944 DC mode, the customer does not use GSCLK(pin25) and  BLANK(pin2).
In this case should GSCLK and BLANK connect to GND?

  • Hi Yusuke,

The answer is no, you can't directly connect GSCLK and BLANK to GND.

When device is power up, the GS data and DC data is all random. You need initial the GS data and DC data. During this period, BLANK should be High.

If you only use DC, you can send GS initial data to all high.

Then Send blank data to low, send one GSCLK pulse, the OUTx will work in constant current mode.

At this moment, you can update only DC data if you need and just set BLANK=LOW and GSCLK=LOW.

BTW, TLC5923 will be easier if you only want DC founction.

  • Feifei-san,

    Thank you for your support.
Let me ask you one more thing.

Customers trying to connect to the port of serial communication of microcomputer the TLC5944 together with other IC.
And Customer want to use the DCSEL instead of CS(Chip select).
When customer control the other IC will be DCSEL to the state of Low.
(As a result, it is so as not to overwrite register at the time of the DC mode.)

If customer perform the above operation,
May irregular data be reflected by LED?

  • Hi Yusuke-san,

If you control the other IC through SCLK and SIN while DCSEL=LOW, then DC data will not change.

But GS data may be reflected depending on whether there is a XLAT signal.

    Best regards,

    Feifei

  • Feifei-san,

Thank you for your kind support.
I attach image and timing chart that a customer assumes.
    Could you confirm it?

Please point out if there is a problem.
