UCD90160 component selection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD90160

Hi,

I would like to connect the UCD90160  to few TI POLA devices (one example PTH08T250WAD) for closed loop  trimming. These power supplies has only one resistor to ground for setting the nominal output voltage. in this case, how do i calculate the R1, R2, Vref of these parts?

Thanks,

Tomer

  • Typical application of the margining function is to connect the margining RCR circuit to the feedback node of the controller, which is regulated at reference voltage level. It seems that by adjusting the voltage on the VoAdj pin of PTH08T250WAD, the output voltage can be adjusted.

The general method would be, injecting a current into the VoAdj node and adjust the voltage accordingly. The two resistors set the range.

In order to calculate the RCR values, we need to know the voltage range of the VoAdj pin. Also, we need to see the internal circuitry that is connected to the VoAdj pin to give recommendations. In addition, if the voltage on VoAdj is only read once at power-up, this margining method can't work. So we need to know the detail of the controller.
