lm5000 soft start calculation information missing

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5000, LM3150

Hello!!!

I am using a LM5000 to boost a 9 -24 input to 30V, I want to change the soft start setting to around 30 or 40 milliseconds but the data sheet offer no information to do this calculation. It only says the Iss (11uA typical) but it does not say the voltage at which the Css will need to reach before the output goes to its desired value.

For example, I am also using a LM3150 for a 5V power supply, tha datasheet says that to calculate the Tss the formula is Tss = Css x Vref / Iss being Vref = 0.6V and Iss 7.7us. So if I want a 40ms soft start I just need to calculate Css by Css = 40ms x 7.7uF/0.6V then Css = 0.5uF.

On the LM5000 is seems is missing the Vref parameter to be able to calculate the proper soft start capacitor value.

On the other hand I would like to know if having a soft start that big, 40 ms, could lead to any malfunction of the LM5000.

Best regards

Mark
