Slowing turning 28VDC output at greater the 500uS

I am looking to control a 28VDC (Static) Power Source 8.6A across 5 separate Devices under test.  Each DUT has a separate relay that powers the 28VDC to each DUT. Static Current draw per DUT is 0.8 Amps or less.  During Power Up there is a very brief current  spike of approximately 1.4A (under 1 uS).  Is there a MOSFET  Gate Driver that can perform the slow start through a RC Circuit and directly drive the MOSFET Gate?  Thanks,

  • Hi Greg,

I am unclear what you mean by slow start. The output of the gate driver IC can be connected to the mosfet by a series resistor with an additional capacitor to the source of the mosfet. This will give a slow dv/dt on the mosfet gate but will result in a high but short duration power dissipation in the mosfet during turn-on.

    Regards
