LP5562 - LEDs in series

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP5562

Hello,

Can I put multiple LEDs in series with this device as long as my voltage power each LED is high enough? Each channel is a constant current sink so will I get that constant current across each LED if I were to put them in series?

Regards,
Mike Ulrich

  • Hi Mike,

Basically you can use multiple LEDs in series as long as the voltage for the LEDs is high enough.

You must however consider the situation where LP5562 is shut down. Will the LED power also be shut down? How many LEDs there would be in series?

    Thank you,

    Sami

  • Hi Sami,

Thank you for the response. There would be around 10 LEDs in series. The LED power would also be shut down if the LP5562 is not receiving power. Out of curiosity, what happens to the device if the LED power were left on? Assuming it breaks, is there a different device that would be similar to this that would not break in that scenario?

    Regards.

  • Mike,

I was just concerned that the ABS MAX voltage (6V) of the R, G, B and W might be exceeded.

Can you tell me more about the application, maybe there is more suitable parts for this. You can also contact via email.

    Thank you,

    Sami
