BQ20Z65-R1 Datasheet Questions

Hello TI,

One of my customers uses the BQ20Z65-R1 to monitor its battery pack. 

Here's a couple of questions concerning information in the datasheet:

- In the datasheet, not much information on PRECHARGE, pin4 (ZVCHG).  In addition, in the design, ZVCHG is not connected, but the PMS input is connected to PACK.  This is wrong, but does it do any harm?

- Another question: in the BQ20Z65EVM, what’s the function Q5?  It’s a N-MOSFET, but with the gate tied to ground.  I can’t find any explanation.

    Hi Dan,
    For Pre-charge:
    1. If PMS is connected to Pack+, then 0V and pre-charging is enabled through the Charge FET.
    2. If PMS is connected to VSS, the 0V and pre-charging is enabled through the pre-charge FET controlled by ZVCHG.

    For Q5:
    This is the reverse polarity protection.
