 - How long is it from exceeding high side current limit to FET doing OFF?

 - How much is the maximum high side switch current limit value?

    Hello, 

    There is no appreciable delay between the detection of a high side overcurrent event and the turn-off of the high-side FET. There will of course be some delay related to the circuitry, but this is very small, on the order of tens of nanoseconds probably. Any error in the maximum current achieved due to delay is very very small compared to the error caused by the variation in the threshold itself (seen in the datasheet table). 

    From some data I have, the maximum high-side current limit is approximately 9A. Note however, that this limit is not screened in production, so TI does not guarantee the maximum limit I mentioned above. The minimum limits specified in the datasheet are production tested however.
