bq27531-G1 and bq24296/7

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24297, BQ27531-G1, BQ24296

Dear all,

I would like to use the q27531-G1 together with the bq24297 charger.

Is it possible to use the secondary I2C bus on the -G1 to communicate with the -297?

Do I need to set an ID/ I2C address in the -G1 to let it work?

Can I leave TS open on the -297 and use the NTC configuration on the -G1 instead?

Please let me know...

ROland

  • Hello Roland,

You cannot use the bq27531-G1 controlling the bq24297 directly.

You will still need a host.

As far as the TS pin, you should be able to get away with not using one on the gas gauge.

    Thanks,

    Kang Kang

  • Dear Kang Kang,

Indeed a host will control the 27531-g1, the 24297 is put behind the 27531-g1.

I read somewhere on the forum that one have to change the Product Number in data flash to 32 for the bq24296 and reset the gauge to allow communication with the charger...

Here some part of the schematic upper 297 lower -g1.
