bqStudio: Errors when reading/writing data memory

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ34Z100-G1

Hello,

I have problems with BqStudio V1.3.42 in combination with EV2300 V3.1r. It worked perfectly until recently.

bqStudio connects via the EV2300 with the bq27621. It recognizes the device automatic and can read out registers, battery voltage etc. This still works correct.
What does not work anymore is reading the golden Image, trying to program a gm.fs file and reading/writing the Parameter Q&A. I measured with an oscilloscope the I2C data and the EV2300 does not access the I2C bus when performing these actions.

There are 2 different Errors:
GoldenImage - Command channel not found
Error reading from the data memory: Operation failed because initial read of all data flash failed

I uninstalled the bqstudio and installed V1.3.42 and reinstalled the USB driver (Windows7 64bit version) but got the same errors. Also a different EV2300 gives same errors. On another computer we tested bqstudio before and also here it does not work anymore.

Any suggestions?

  • Hi Eric,

Because you see the Error "Operation failed because initial read of all data flash failed" this means that the gauge has not successfully read the Data Memory.

To fix this, go to "Data Memory" tab, and click "Read All" Now you should be able to update other flash parameters and update the parameter Q&A.

    Best,

    Justin

  • Hello,

    Thanks Justin. This now works

What not yet works is the saving and programming of the Golden Image. There is still an error message "GoldenImage - Command channel not found" .
In the screenshot I click the button 'Create Image Files'. Also if I read out first the data memory. It also does not matter if the fuel gauge is connected or not, or if the EV2300 is connected or not.

Any suggestions? Strange is that it worked before in the same setup/configuration, also on another computer.

    regards, Eric

  • Bump. Having the same issue in bqStudio v1.3.45 with a BQ34Z100-G1 and an EV2300 v3.1r. I can individually program and read a register but I cannot export a golden image or program a golden image. When I try, I get the "Command channel not found". I'm using a 2p1s cell configuration. Any ideas what is wrong?

  • I would try upgrading bqStudio to the latest version. Make sure that the cell voltages are above the Flash Update Ok Voltage.
  • Hi Thomas,

Thanks, upgrading to bqStudio v1.3.52 fixed it.
