TPS2001CDGKR - About European Norm (European Standards)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2553

Hi Team,

I understand that TPS2001CDGKR is based on “UL standard”.

So, is this device based on " European Norm (European Standards)"?

If yes, I would like to ask you about the content below.

----------------

[Question]

Even if the current limit of this device is working(so abnormal condition), is this device based on " European Norm (European Standards)"?

If yes, could you please let us know the recommended operation junction temperature?

I understand that this recommended value is 125℃.

Is my understanding correct?

*According to our customer, they can't disable TPS2001CDGKR when the current limit is working.

However, they would like to base on " European Norm (European Standards)".

If you contact to below my e-mail address or let me know your e-mail address,

I can send the customer information.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Kanemaru-san,
What's europe standards? TPS20xxC DGK compliant IEC60950-1 and EN 60950 for europe. Yes the junction temperature is 125C. Now your question is: "they can't disable TPS2001CDGKR when the current limit is working", you mean pull low EN pin, current limit still work?
  • Hi Milo-san,

    Thank you for the information!

    [Your question1]

    What's europe standards?

    => This is “EN 60950”.

So, I understand that TPS2001 based on " European Norm (European Standards)".

    [Your question2]

"they can't disable TPS2001CDGKR when the current limit is working", you mean pull low EN pin, current limit still work?

=> I'm very sorry to have confused you.

They would like to know whether TPS2001CDGKR can be based on "EN 60950" when the current limit is working(Enable is High).

       I guess that

    - If output current is 2.0A (the current limit isn’t working), this device is based on “EN 60950”.

       - If output current is 2.9A (the current limit is working), this device isn’t based on “EN 60950”.

       Is my understanding correct?

  • Hi Kanemaru-san,

The device is certified by UL for IEC60950-1. The TPS2001 current limit range over temperature is quite wide from 2.35A to 3.4A. Our newer adjustable switches like the TPS2553, have a much tighter current limit.

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi John-san,

Thank you for your prompt reply and information!

So, I understand that this device can't base on "EN 60950" when the current limit is working.

    Is my understanding correct?

  • HI Kanemaru-san,

I can not comment on the differences between EN 60950 and IEC60950. The current limit does work as described in the datasheet and we do comply with IEC60950 per our UL Certification.
