We are using two displays, 7" and 10.4", and we tried to use TPS61165 to drive the backlight leds. Apparently, TPS61165 can't reach the total current to drive the display backlight.
The string leds are composed by 39 leds (13 strings with 3 leds in series), and the specifications of the string are:
Forward Voltage = 10V
Forward Current = 260 mA for 7" and 520mA for 10.4"
Power Consumption = 2574 mW for 7" and 4992 mW for 10.4
We are using 3.3V as input to TPS61165 and using a resistor of 50 ohms to set the Iled. The maximum voltage that it can reach in the output is 8.5Volts.
Another issue is that we are not seen differences in the output when change the Duty Cycle of the PWM (it is set to 20kHz).
Did you suggest another IC to drive the backlight? Or design changes in the TPS61165?
