Using BQ24650 for High Power Applications

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24650

I'm building a high power solar charger. 250V Solar array to 48V Battery. Can I use this IC and "hi-jack" its pins to use for this application?

  • Hi Brian,

The bq24650 is rated for 28V solar input and <28V for battery. You can put the solar panels in parallel instead of series, reducing voltage and increasing amperage. Battery voltage also has to be below 28V for the buck converter to work. You can also make it a buck/boost charger by reading the application note.

    Thanks,
    Steven
