Using clock synchronization between LM5574 and LM5116.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5574, LM5116

Can the SYNC pins be directly tied together between the LM5574 and the LM5116 to synchronize them? I can set the LM5574 as the "master" (higher frequency).

  • Hi Dan

I think it is not possible. LM5116 needs a push-pull output clock source and a AC coupling capacitor additionally.

  • The '5574 shows a weak pullup to 5V at the SYNC output. So it may be possible to AC couple this to the '5116. That is what I want to know. The '5116 recommends a 5V sync signal with the coupling cap so the voltage level seems to be okay, just can't tell whether the pullup from the '5574 is fast / strong enough to trigger the '5116.
