LED ON/OFF switch

Hi Team,

My customer is looking for DEMUX for switching LED ON/OFF as the following.
I heard LED ON time is about 1ms.

Is there any power DEMUX device for this solution?

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • Hi Yaita,

I will go ahead and move this question to the LED driver forum.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Yaita,

I would consider the TLC59108 device. The customer could use I2C to control up to 8 different LED outputs, and the output current for all of the channels can be set through a single REXT resistor.

Take a look at that device, and let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Harry-san,

    Thank you for your comment.
Is there any solution not LED driver but just DEMUX switch?
It doesn't require brightness control, just ON/OFF function.

    Yaita

  • Hi Yaita-san,

Do you think the TPS2113A can work for your requirement?

    Regards,

  • Hi John-san,

    Thank you for your suggestion.
However TPS2113A is 1:2MUX and has reverse conduction block feature, I think it can't be used for the requirement.
I will try to suggest TPS22901x2.
I will contact again if I need your advice.

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • HI Yaita-san,

Yes I forgot about the reverse current. Actually, the TLV716 may be perfect for this:  The TLV7163030PDPQR is two 3.0V outs. This is a cap-free LDO so if VIN is 3V, it will do its best to regulate 3.0VOUT, but since it can't, it would work as a switch. We can send you an EVM if you wish to test to see if it can work.

This could be a nice small solution size option.

Let me know what you think.

    Regards,

  • Hi John-san,

    I appreciate for your support.
In additional recent information, I heard my customer considers to switch a number of LEDs that is more than two.
However I will try to suggest your solution and contact if I need EVM.

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • HI Yaita-san,

OK. The single channel version of the TLV716 is the TLV713 so this should be able to support the odd number of LED's/ I am checking to confirm this works.

    Regards,

  • HI Yaita-san,

We are going to test the TLV716 as an LED MUX, Can you share the datasheet of the LED you plan to use?

Also, for the odd number of LED's, we have the TLV713 which is also cap-free. This is a single channel device.

    Thank you,

  • John-san,

I asked my customer to share LED datasheet but it isn't LED itself but the sensor module with LED.
He consider to use a number of LED modules and want switch LED on/off.
However it seems it doesn't fix how many modules to use yet..

    Best Regards,
    Yaita
