I designed and tested a very small BQ25504 board that programs most functions to extreme values by connecting many pins to either GND or VRDIV. In other words, it is for capacitor storage (not a battery) where a downstream voltage monitor is used instead of the BQ25504 battery management functions.
I shared the design KiCad PCB design on GitHub. and the fab design files at OSHPark.
I noticed the BQ25504 will charge to 7 volts, more than the 5.5V specified for input voltage max on many pins, including VBAT and VSTOR. When the BQ25504 is unthrottled, when you don't have a voltage monitor or load downstream draining the power. I assume that the BQ25504 in such a situation will not destroy itself.
