TPS2592 Current Limit Tolerance

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2592AA, TPS2592ZA

Hi,

Can someone tell me the tolerance on the current limiting setting of the TPS2592?

For example if I set ILIM to be 1A using an external 0.1% resistor, what range of output current could the device trip at, across its operating temperature range?

I cannot find this information in the datasheet.

Thanks

Tim

  • Hello Tim,

    Thanks For your post.

For the 1A current limit  setting even with 0.1% resistor, the variation could be about 30%...from  device to device and under all operating temp range.

Plesae refer to the graph shown in "Figure 31. Accuracy vs Overload Current Limit" in the TPS2592 data sheet.

    Best Regards

  • Thanks Dinesh,

However I am looking to use the TPS2592ZA part since I need to operate at 12V and limit at 1A. The TPS2592AA part data sheet, that Figure 31 refers to, is 2A - 3.7A.

The same 'Accuracy vs Overload Current Limit' graph does not appear on the TPS2592ZA datasheet. The closest is Figure 15 'IOL, ISC vs Temperature', this suggests a 6% variation, but is this only for temperature?

The datasheet also states "The device aids in controlling the in-rush current and provides precise current limiting during overload conditions..." although it doesn't mention how precise.

So does the same 30% tolerance apply to the TPS2592ZA as it does to the TPS2592AA?

    Thanks Again

    Tim

  • Hello Tim,

The current limit tolerance  are same for the  TPS2592ZA and  TPS2592AA?

    Best Regards
