Battery charging connection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z60

Hi, Tom,

I am using this LiPo battery pack. Does the battery need to connect both high current connector and 5-pin cell balance charging connector to the BQ40z60 charger board? Or only connecting 5-pin cell balance charging connector is good enough?

Thanks

  • Lankor,
I would check to verify that the two red wires are connected internal and the two black wires are connected internally. The pack wires are not ideal to be connected to the EVM, but here is what I would do. I would connect the heavy black wire to the 1N port. This will allow the high current to flow directly to the sense resistor. I would solder the small black wire to the PCB at the GND test point. You can solder it on the bottom side of the PCB. Connect the large red wire to the 4P port and the other small cell connection wires to their respective ports on the connector. It would be ideal to use the small red wire as a kelvin contact for the 4P contact, but the PCB layout does not readily allow this.
