Anyone know what happened to the TPS40490? It seems to have disappeared from the site.

Hi all,

I am experimenting with some GAN parts for a high power drain modulator for a RF application, and found the TPS40490 suggested on the EPC site, but while Digikey list the part (with zero stock) and even have a datasheet, I can find no sign of the thing on TIs web site.

The datasheet is dated 2013, so it is a reasonably contemporary part, but the web site appears to know nothing about it?

It is one of the few voltage mode controllers capable of the sorts of switching speeds needed for this application, and the defined impedance to the reference pin (making drain modulation easy) is a nice bonus (What would be ideal would be a current mode version supporting multi phase operation, but that appears to be a gap in the market if you also want high voltage output ~50V).

Does anyone know what is going on with this part?

Regards, Dan.

  • Hi Dan,

Unfortunately the TSP40490 is no longer available, but if you are interested I can contact you directly to discuss your application in more details and find another controller that is a suitable solution, depending on what your power/ bandwidth and voltage requirements you have.

    Regards,

    Alberto
