TPS25926 for Bi-derectional Usage

Dear, Sir.

My customer is looking foir the bi-derectional load switch to be capable for USB OTG.

Battery charge with 5V power supply output IC is located. The load switch will be set

in front of the IC. Once the system become "Host", 5V VBUS must be output for the

"Device", so di-directional function is required considering USB OTG.

There is a parasitic diode inside of TPS25926. That seems the device could be work

under reverse direction.

1. I wonder TPS25926 could work & no problem for bi-directional usage?

2. If no, Please let me know the bottle-neck or risk.

   For instance the limit of parasitic diode forward current, etc.

    Hello  Sakai-san,

    We never recommended TPS25926. to any customer  for the reverse current application like this.

    However, if your application make the best use of Internal Body diode of the MOSFET  for the revers current flow, you can go head.

    What  is your current in reverse direction,  as this will cause comparatively larger power dissipation when body diode is used.

    Also, please note there is not current limit when current is flown through the diode.

    Dear, Dinesh-san. 

    Thank you for your helpful advice. 

    I would like to double-confirm followings. 

    1. 1 page on the datasheet, "the device has defense function

        against reverse current". I wonder the device never shutdown 

       at reverse current flow through Body diode? 

    2. I can't use PSpice model. If you have the simulation result, it 

       is so helpful for us. Is it possible to realize that?

    Hello Sakai-san,
    We will correct this sentence in the data sheet whenever we revise TPS25926 data sheet.
    Well, TPS25926 does not limit the reverse current flow.
    Please let us know your system block diagram to understand the requirements. if we have device to meet your requirement.
