Dear all,

I use several bq34z100-g1 chips now and I find one of them acting abnormally.

When discharging, the remaining capacity keeps dropping. However, the remaining capacity stop dropping as it reaches around 20%. When it becomes 0%, I see the big drop from 20% to 0%

The battery is calibrated before and loaded with the correct Chem ID and calibration data.

Please provide a log file showing the problem and I will check it. Also, please export an srec file from the pack and attach it with the log file.

Hi Tom,

Is there anything wrong with the log file? I think up two possible reasons. One is the inaccurate calibration. The other is due to the firmware I use. The problem chip (bq34z100-g1) is running on bq34z100 v0.06 FW, not bq34z100_G1_v0_16_build_17.srec.

The problem is that the bq34z100 can only support up to 16383 mAh capacity due to firmware limitations. Look at the Passed Charge column in the log file and you can see that it freezes at 16383. You will have to use capacity scaling to support your pack capacity. I have an applications brief on the bq34z100-G1 website to help with capacity scaling. The other alternative is to switch to the bq34z100-G1. It can support up to 29000mAh without capacity scaling.
