Availability of older versions of bqEVSW for EV2300?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQEVSW, BQ27510, BQSTUDIO, EV2400, BQ27510-G3

I have a product containing a b27500-v130 and was able to carry out development work on it using bqEVSW v0.9.59. A more recent version of bqEVSW that I have tried ( 0.9.90 ) prevents me from performing any of the board calibration steps (CC board offset, CC offset, voltage calibration etc) - it just repeatedly gives me the cryptic error code 772.

So I wonder if the bqEVSW 0.9.59 is still available?

  • Is anybody there?
I'm responsible for thousands of units of product containing this gauge, which it seems can no longer be supported.
  • Hi Jeremy.

this device is not recommended for new designs. if this is a new design, i recommend you use either the bq27510 or the bq27520. These devices currently use bqstudio.

If this is an existing design, i have sent you an email on here requesting your email address so i can direct you on how to obtain the software.

    thanks

  • Hi Onyx
I received your e-mail friendship request and I accepted it.
Do I need to do more in order to give you my e-mail address?
    regards
    Jeremy
  • Hi Onyx,

I have now installed the bqEVSW that you provided in your link. It is version 00.09.75 rather than 00.09.59 but I'll continue to test it.

The problem is that the bqEVSW installs ok, but the USB drivers do not - so I cannot connect to the EV2300 unit. I installed on a xp machine that had no previous bqEVSW installation. There is  a folder called "C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\Driver(USB EV2300) Installer XP2K". I run the setup.exe in this folder which completes successfully. Then I plug in the EV2300 USB cable into the PC and the "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up. I tell it to install the driver from a specific location: C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\\Driver(USB EV2300) Installer XP2K\Win2k\USB1. This fails with the message: "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software"

Any ideas where I can get the necessary driver software?

    Thanks

  • Hi Jeremy,

    The link to the EV2300 driver is below;

  • Hi Onyx,
That link you provided leads to another link with no file connected.
No matter, I think I shall have to migrate my design over to the bq2510 device, as you initially recommended.
Looking at the TI product page for the bq2510, it recommends using the EV2300 with it. Now I will have the same problem - there are no supported USB drivers for Windows 7, 64 bit.
What should I do? Will the bq2510 work with the EV2400 and bqStudio on a Windows 7 PC?
    Thanks
    Jeremy
  • Onyx,
Correction to my last post - I did find the EV2300 drivers for 64 bit windows. I followed the install instructions exactly but still the EV2300 is not recognised. When plugging the USB cable in device manager reports: "unknown device".
I am not confident that any TI software will work on my Windows 7 PC. I can find nothing on the TI website which indicates which O/S versions are supported for bqStudio and bqEVSW.

  • Hi Jeremy,

All the computers here are TI are on windows 7 so the tools unfortunately are developed to work with just those and earlier windows versions. We wouldn't have the capability to test the tool if one was written for a windows later than 7.

I am at a loss why the device wouldn't work on your system. I use windows 7 myself and the Ev2300 works great with the drivers i pointed you to. Did you install the drivers as an administrator. Have you tried using a different computer to see if you are successful?

    thanks

    Onyx

  • and yes, bqstudio works with windows 7 and the ev2400 and the bq27510-G3

    thanks
    Onyx
  • Hi Onyx,

Yes, the driver was installed as administrator.

Examining all the files that have been created it looks very much like the installation would have been successful if my machine had a 64 bit AMD processor rather than a 64 bit Intel. There are very many more AMD specific files created than Intel ones. Would you confirm whether your own Windows 7 PC has AMD or Intel. We don't have an AMD PC here to test it.

    Thanks

    Jeremy

  • Hi Jeremy,
My computer has an intel processor. Have you tried installing on a different machine to see if it works?
    thanks
