Supply Current for BQ76PL536A

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76PL536A

Hello Teams,

I suppose that the amount of communication is different in each of stuck(top, middle, bottom) if BQ76PL536A is used in bellow configuration.

Is there a difference in the supply current of each device(top, middle, bottom)?

Best Regards,

Hidetoshi Matsunami

  • Hello Hidetoshi-san,

Yes, it’s possible to see imbalance between stacked ICs but if you calculate average current then it may not be as bad as you think.
PL536A has fast adc conversion time which is 6uS per channel.
If you monitor every 50mS then delta should be minimal.
    1. ADC conversion for 6 channels, Vbat,2 temp is 54uS.
    2. It would take 3.52 mS to read 10 devices with 500Khz. It will be faster with 1Mhz.
    3. Rest of ~46mS will be in either Idle or sleep mode.

You can calculate average current and compare to your cell capacity. What is your cell capacity? How often you monitor cells?
If you provide then I can try to give you some ideas.

    thanks
  • Hello Roger,

    Thank you for your reply.

I'll contact you after I get cell capacity value and cell monitoring frequency.

    Best Regards,
