Survey TPS65131-Q, spec problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65131, TPS65130

Hi All,

I need survey TPS65131 application in LCD product, but this description is confuse me.
as below
TPS65131: 1950-mA switch current limit, both rails.......
TPS65130: 800-mA switch current limit, both rails.......
positive output voltage up to 15 V and a negative output voltage down to –15 V with output currents in a 200-mA range in typical applications

Why 1950mA switch current just push output current 200mA for positive and negative source.
Does it with output electric potential & efficiency & input voltage have relation?

  • Hello Kuo Duke,

Thanks for your enquiry. The description on the front page which you are referring to is only intended to give a rough overview of the classification of this devices. The maximum output current is strongly dependent of the input and the output voltage, please refer to figure 1 to 4 to find the maximum output current for specified configuration.
If you want to know what drain and switch current to expect depending on the configuration I can recommend you to download and use the Power Stage Designer Tool (www.ti.com/.../powerstage-designer)
If you want to understand the theory beyond these calculations I can recommend you the following application notes:
    Boost Stage: www.ti.com/.../slva061.pdf
    Inverting Buck-Boost Stage: www.ti.com/.../slyt286.pdf

    Thank you,
    Regards,
    Ilona
