BQ24610 Battery charging issue-Not able to charge upto 25.2V and Charge termination LED STAT2 does not glow.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24610

We are using BQ24610 charger IC in our design. Design spec is given below:

Adapter Input supply = 28V

Charge current = 3.6A

Charge current threshold set at 0.3A.

Full charge expected is 25.2V as set by VFB resistors.

Issues:

1.Not able to charge a 6-cell Li-ion battery upto 25.2V as given in battery spec.

2.Charge termination LED STAT2 does not glow. Cut-off current observed is 0.2A and maximum voltage charged upto 24.24V.

3.Calculated Charge current I=4.4A after resistor tuning at ISET1, then I am getting Charge current of 3.6A(expected), not with the correct resistor values for 3.6A.

Kindly revert on above issues with  the BQ24610 charger IC.

  • Dear Dhiraj,

we have nearly the same issue. Fast charge is working well. Close before reaching the estimated full voltage the charging LED starts blinking in a 1s rhythm. STAT2 LED keeps off. But I have to admit that for some reasons we had two times (in 2 weeks) a normal behavior with STAT2 LED on. Currently we have no idea for that behavior. I'am in contact with our battery supplier to eliminate a issue with the protection circuit inside the pack. Do you found a solution for your problem?

  • Hi Dhiraj,

Can I see a schematic for your bq24610 configuration?

    Thanks,
