TPS717 / Absolute Maximum Rating of enable pin

Hi,

Please let me clarify my understanding about abs max of enable pin. "VEN absolute maximum rating is VIN + 0.3 V or 7 V, whichever is greater." means that there is no possibility of damage on enable pin when applying up to 7V on enable pin without VIN (VIN=0V). Is my understanding correct?

In particular, my customer is concerning if 3.3V can be applied on enable pin before VIN.

Best Regards,

Sonoki / Japan Disty

  • Hi,

I found the following comment in page 5.

    "(4) Maximum VEN(high) = VIN + 0.3 or 6.5 V, whichever is smaller."

So I guess that the note 2) of Abs max has typo and it should be "smaller", not greater. Please give your opinion.

    Best Regards,

    Sonoki

  • Sonoki-san,

You are correct there is a typo.  Please limit Ven to Vin + 0.3 or 6.5V (whichever is smaller) in order to remain within the operating range of the device.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Thank you for your response. Please see my comment as below.

    1. Please request to revise datasheet to correct this typo.
    2. I understand that the recommended should be "Vin + 0.3 or 6.5V whichever is smaller" and abs max should be "Vin + 0.3 or 7V whichever is smaller". Is my understanding correct?

    Best Regards,

    Sonoki
