TPS73033 issue: output is abnormal

Hi,

I'm using TPS73033 device, the input voltage for TPS73033. after solder, we found there are several issues.

1. The output is equal to input 5 V for some devices.

2. There is no output for some devices.

3. The output is 1 V for some devices

4. The output is 2 V for some devices.

Is there any guideline to debug these issues?

Regards

Jin

  • Hi Jin,

There are a couple of things that should be verified. When you do a visual inspection, do you see any shorts? I would also look for any unintentional leakage paths with flux. These are the most likely causes of so many different voltages.

    Very Respectfully,

  • Hi Ryan,

I tested the IO pins and didn't find shorts on any IO. But when I configure the device into shut down mode ( EN is configured as GND ),  the current is about 2 mA.

According to the datasheet, the leakage current is several uA.

It seems there are some shorts internally.  Has this issue been reported by any user?

  • Hi Jin,

We test our devices before shipping and I am unaware of any similar issues reported before.

The increased shutdown current is another indicator that there are unintentional leakage paths or shorts on the board.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
