  • Hi Jasper,

I'm sorry for the delay in responding - many of our team are out of office over the holidays, so it may take some extra time to address your question. I'm not too familiar with that device myself, but we'll have someone get back to you on this soon.

  • Hi Jasper,

The bq33100 can support 2-9s caps. You need to operate the device in stack mode since you are using more than 5 caps which is the max the device can support in normal mode where it measures the voltages of each of the caps and is able to actively balance all 5. With an 8s configuration you will have to use passive balancing such as a resistor string.

if you are trying to stack 2 bq33100, you will need a i2c multiplexer since the smbus address of the bq33100 is fixed to 16 so your host can read out data out of both to avoid bus collisions. Also  the charge fet and how/Which device(s) controls it will have to be thought through.

    thanks
