Coils for Qi receiver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51013B

Dear all,

I am looking at the data sheet here : http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/bq51013b.pdf

And am not able to find any of the coils to purchase, that are being mentioned here, which have Ls and Ls' detailed. Are there any other options which some one can offer please? The smaller the coil is better for us (circular or rectangle both are ok).

Thanks so much!

Best regards!

  • Nagaraj,

I cannot recommend specific coils for your application.  However, if you contact the vendors shown in the Recommend RX coils table of the bq51013B datasheet, they can help you select a coil that would be best for your solution.

  • Hi Dick,

    Thanks for the response.

The data sheet asks for Ls and Ls' values, and I dont have the set up to run the recommended tests to find these. So, my question was if some one can offer me some options, for which they know Ls and Ls', just like the ones described in data sheet. The problem with the coils in data sheet is that, I could not find them anywhere to buy. Otherwise would have just bought them (Of course the vishay one is present but its too large!).

    Thanks!
  • Nagaraj,

There is no estimate that I am aware of.  As you can see from table 7 in the bq51013B datasheet, the Ls' can vary from 110% to 145% of the Ls.  The shielding material is one item that has a large factor.

If you cannot measure the Ls' of the coil you choose,  you can take efficiency measurements with different Cs values to determine the most efficient value.

What are the coil size requirements you have?

    Regards,

    Dick
