BQ24105 fail to charge battery pack when inline regulator is used

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24105, BQ24610

Hello Everyone,

I'm having a really bizarre problem with the BQ24105 IC that i need some assistance.  When the the BQ24105 is used in series with a regulator the BQ24105 failed to recharge the battery pack when it reaches cutoff voltage. Under the above configuration, the only way to get it to charge the battery pack is to get the battery pack above the cutoff voltage by pre-charge the battery pack and connect it to the charger again.

On the other hand if the regulator is not part of the BQ24105 circuits the BQ24105 has no problem charging the battery pack when it reaches cutoff voltage.

I am thinking the problem with using the BQ24105 in series with the regulator is either the pre-charge timer is too short  and it failed to detect the present of the battery pack  or or the regulator is pulling current that doesn't allow the BQ24105 to charge the battery pack. If this is the case, are there any other solutions to bypass this problem ?

Attached is the block diagram of the current design
